Some odds and ends and assorted tidbits to consider on this last weekend in August:
It will be 45 years Thursday since President Lyndon Johnson signed the Wilderness Act. According to a news release from the Campaign for America's Wilderness, the act provided immediate protection for 9 million acres in 54 statutory wilderness areas. "Thanks to this landmark act, special places like the Chase Lake, Lostwood and Theodore Roosevelt Wilderness areas are forever protected in North Dakota for hiking, hunting, photography, fishing, wildlife watching, camping and more," the news release said.
